Ive had 2 of these gates installed for a few months now and love them. Ive used a safety 1st gate and another gate prior to really figure out what I like. First the door is wide compared to other gates so I can easily pass through with a laundry basket. Second the door is easy for adults and older kids like my 6 year old but impossible for the toddler. Other gates that stay open at 90degrees seem to require lifting up on the gate to open which can be tricky for kids or when injured. This gate doesnt require that. Incredibly pleased.

This gate was used for my dog to keep him from going upstairs. We were afraid that he would jump over it at first since he is a jumper and the gate looked kinda low. But I guess we trained him well and he respects the boundaries of the gate. It works great for our 43in wide staircase and we love how the door closes automatically but stays open if you open it all the way to a 90 degree angle. In case you are thinking of using it for a dog, our 1 year old puppy is a 40lb medium sized dog maybe 2-3 ft off the ground. So if your thinking of getting this for your dog and he is bigger than that then maybe consider an extra tall gate instead.
